On Thanksgiving Day, many Democratic members of Congress in Connecticut received bomb threats at their residences.
Representatives Joe Courtney, Jahana Hayes, Jim Himes, and John Larson all claimed their residences were targeted on Thursday.
“This morning, I was notified of a bomb threat targeting my home where I was celebrating Thanksgiving with my family,” Himes said reporters in a statement. “Thankfully, after a swift and thorough response from the United States Capitol Police, the Greenwich Police Department and the Stamford Police Department, no evidence of a bomb was found.”
Hayes claimed in a statement that local police informed her that they had received a threatening email indicating that a pipe bomb had been placed in her house mailbox. Police found no evidence of a pipe bomb in his mailbox and stated that political violence has no place in this country.
“State police, the US Capitol Police, and the Sergeant at Arms were immediately contacted. The Wolcott Police Department and State Police arrived, and no bombs or explosive materials were found. The location was evacuated. At this moment, the inquiry is ongoing. I appreciate law enforcement’s prompt response to this situation; their efforts illustrate that political violence has no place in our nation.”
Larson and Courtney have received similar threats, according to local Connecticut media reports. AWN has reached out for comment.
Threats against members of the Connecticut congressional delegation mirror threats against some of Trump’s cabinet candidates, including Rep. Elise Stefanik, former Rep. Lee Zeldin, and Pete Hegseth.
It is unclear, however, whether the threats against some of Trump’s cabinet nominees are related to the threats against numerous members of Connecticut’s congressional delegation.
