Trump’s Backing Fuels Conservative Rebellion…

Trump's Backing Fuels Conservative Rebellion

Even though former president Donald Trump spoke out in support of Speaker Mike Johnson on Monday, conservative rebels who want Johnson removed from office are keeping up their threats.

The new motion-to-vacate resolution was authored by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who expressed her disbelief in the establishment’s claims that another Speaker contest would be too difficult, risky, and dramatic in a Tuesday social media post. “Complete surrender is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.”

In a conversation with radio presenter John Fredericks on Monday, Trump defended Johnson, mentioning his extremely narrow one-vote effective majority on each vote.

He obviously can’t just do as he pleases. “I think he’s a very good person,” Trump remarked after Monday’s court appearance in New York. His effort is commendable, in my opinion.

The statements of the former president, however, failed to appease his opponents. Republican Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie, who is also in favor of the move to vacate, criticized Johnson once again on Tuesday.

“We don’t expect to get everything, but we also won’t tolerate complete & total surrender,” he stated in an article.

“The U.S. House has gone to the dogs,” the Republican from Kentucky stated separately. It is quite humiliating. Okay, let’s get this mess cleaned up.

Republicans in Congress aren’t the only ones who are unfazed by Trump’s comments.

Steve Bannon, a prominent conservative media personality and former Trump adviser, took to social media to criticize the speaker, writing, “Johnson is NOT Trying @ All—on Defending President Trump or Defending America—NOTHING.”
