On Monday, a Florida man was handed a fourteen-month prison term for last year’s threat against Chief Justice John Roberts’ life.
The 43-year-old Fernandina Beach, Florida resident Neal Brij Sidhwaney admitted in December that he had sent a murder threat across state lines. There was a possibility that he may spend five years behind bars. After serving his time in prison, Sidhwaney was additionally ordered to serve three years under supervision.
According to a news release from the Justice Department, AWN earlier reported that Sidhwaney called the Supreme Court last year on July 31 “and left an expletive-laden, threatening voicemail message” for a member of the high court.
Roberts was the victim of the threatening phone call, according to online court filings; however, the department did not specify which justice was the intended target.
“The identified official is Chief Justice John Roberts whom he allegedly contacted by phone call and threatened to kill,” reads Sidhwaney’s competency evaluation that was previously uploaded to a Florida federal court’s website.
For remark, AWN has contacted Sidhwaney’s lawyer.
A guy from California has entered a not-guilty plea in a different case involving attempted murder charges against Justice Brett Kavanaugh. In 2022, close to Kavanaugh’s residence outside of Washington, DC, police apprehended Nicholas Roske. Roske was found in possession of a firearm and burglary implements in his backpack.
His legal team has recently informed the court that they are negotiating with the prosecution “regarding a pretrial resolution.”
