Biden vs. Trump: A Rematch from Hell, Warns Former Lawmaker

A presidential election in 2024 putting President Joe Biden against former President Donald Trump would be a “rematch from hell,” according to Texas Republican Rep. Will Hurd.

“The truth is that two-thirds of Americans prefer someone other than Donald Trump and Joe Biden.” That’s the rematch from hell,” Hurd, who is exploring a presidential run in 2024, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

There is evidence to back up Hurd’s claim that another presidential race between Biden and Trump would be unpopular with Americans: According to an NBC News poll conducted last month, the majority of voters do not want to see either candidate re-enter the race. However, both candidates are now polling significantly ahead of the competition in their respective categories, and a rematch appears to be a distinct possibility.

To avoid a repeat in 2020, more people must show out for primary elections, according to the former Texas congressman.

“Only about 23% of the country actually votes in primaries,” Hurd pointed out. “If more people voted in primaries, we’d have better options in November, options that we’d actually like and be excited to vote for.”

Hurd stated that his decision on whether or not to enter the contest will be made “very soon.”
