With Republicans’ repeated failure to repeal Obamacare—and with some Republicans choosing not to campaign to end it—the Biden team sees the health care fight as fertile territory.
Trump recently claimed that Republicans should “never give up” on attempting to dismantle the historic health reform law passed by Obama and added that he was “seriously looking at alternatives.” This move follows his recent comments. The failure to abolish Obamacare, according to Trump, was “a low point for the Republican Party,” and the program’s costs are “out of control.” He also added that the healthcare system is not good. The remarks made by the ex-president on Truth Social were in reaction to an opinion piece published in the Wall Street Journal.
On Monday, Biden personally spoke out on the health care issue, and his campaign has been trying to boost Trump’s social media comments as well.
During a White House speech on supply chains, Biden made the following statement: “My predecessor’s – once again, God love him – call for cuts that could rip away health insurance for tens of millions of Americans.” “They persist without giving up. Unlike a decade ago, Democrats now have the opportunity to run on a platform that supports the Affordable Care Act. For several years following the law’s approval, Republican presidential and congressional candidates effectively opposed it. Following their 2010 House landslide victory, Republicans immediately began claiming the mandate to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
