Congress Pushes for Government Reform—100+ Lawmakers Join DOGE Caucus!

Republican and Democratic legislators are engaged in a heated ideological debate about the benefits of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), but more than a hundred of them have joined forces to reduce waste in the government.

Trump appointed Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to head an advisory group that would recommend ways to reduce the size of the federal bureaucracy; soon after, the Congressional DOGE Caucus was established.

Now that Musk is spearheading the initiative on his own, he is under heavy criticism from Democratic legislators, who accuse him of being an unelected bureaucrat who has too much power over the federal government while having no background in the field.

However, there is still a lot of support for the mission among House members. More than one-fifth of the House of Representatives is a member of the Democratic Oversight and Government Ethics Caucus, according to AWN Digital’s sources.

Legislation to cut expenditure and advance some things on Trump’s agenda is reportedly in the works among the group’s members, according to AWN Digital.

There have been two sessions of the caucus thus far, with Reps. Aaron Bean (R–FL), Pete Sessions (R–TX), and Blake Moore (R–UT) serving as leaders.

Lawmakers were given the opportunity to choose from eight separate working groups during the second session. Once assigned, these groups would be tasked with identifying ways to reduce government waste within their respective domains.

The following groups are listed in documents acquired by AWN Digital following the second meeting: “Retirement,” “safety net and family support,” “emergency supplementals,” “natural resources and permitting,” “homeland and legal,” “defense and [veterans affairs],” “workforce and infrastructure,” and “finance and government operations.”

AWN Digital has been informed that the member choices have been finalized and that the groups are currently “in full swing.”

The caucus has also received a lot of attention from outside the Beltway, according to figures provided with AWN Digital.

The DOGE Caucus’ email tip line has received over 40,000 messages, and according to AWN Digital, some suggestions “for how to cut waste, fraud, and abuse” were communicated with Musk’s DOGE team.

Bean reportedly challenged parliamentarians to file at least one bill each to reduce government waste, according to an insider who spoke with AWN Digital about the group’s prior meeting.
