In the battle to succeed Republican state attorney general candidate Dan Bishop, Harris prevailed over a field of formidable opponents. The seat is held by a staunch Republican, giving the general election to Harris, who has never been charged with a crime, a significant advantage. The political wing of the House Freedom Caucus voted to support Harris.
Two super PACs, funded by establishment contributors, were able to divert nearly $2 million from Harris’s campaign. However, they failed in their endeavours.
