Controversial Figure Triumphs: Election Fraud Accused Wins NC House Primary

In a Republican primary for a freshly drawn House district, Mark Harris of North Carolina prevailed. Harris’s 2018 congressional campaign was overturned due to substantial claims of election fraud.

In the battle to succeed Republican state attorney general candidate Dan Bishop, Harris prevailed over a field of formidable opponents. The seat is held by a staunch Republican, giving the general election to Harris, who has never been charged with a crime, a significant advantage. The political wing of the House Freedom Caucus voted to support Harris.

Two super PACs, funded by establishment contributors, were able to divert nearly $2 million from Harris’s campaign. However, they failed in their endeavours. He triumphed over one state representative, John Bradford, who had the support of Republican North Carolina Representative Patrick McHenry, and one former commissioner, Allan Baucom.

In the 2019 rerun election that the state conducted following the charges of election fraud that plagued Harris’ 2018 campaign, Bishop defeated Democrat Dan McCready. However, with that election behind us, the district lines have been redrew.
