A fresh report states that tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and Space X, are beginning to interview federal employees for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In recent days, there have been discussions between DOGE representatives and employees of over a dozen federal agencies, according to Friday’s Washington Post report. These agencies include the IRS, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury Department.
Separate from the federal government, DOGE is headed by Musk and Ramaswamy and aims to tackle problems with government expenditure, inefficiency, and operations. Together with the OMB, they will presumably propose executive measures for the Trump administration to implement changes.
By reducing expenditure, government programs, and the federal workforce, the committee hopes to remove $2 trillion from the federal budget.
Musk, on the other hand, has lately expressed skepticism about the possibility of removing $2 trillion from the federal budget, stating that a reduction of $1 trillion would be more feasible.
We should aim at $2 trillion, in my opinion. “I think that’s like the best-case scenario,” Musk reportedly stated during Wednesday’s tech trade event CES in Las Vegas, according to the Post. On the other hand, I believe that a certain amount of surplus is necessary. I believe we have a decent chance of obtaining $1 trillion if we aim for $2 trillion.
The Republican Caucus for Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) was established last year by Representatives Aaron Bean (R-FL) and Pete Sessions (R-TX), who both expressed their support for collaborating with DOGE.
House DOGE Caucus Co-Chair Bean stated in November that the fact that the national debt has exceeded $36 trillion should serve as a wake-up call for all Americans. To keep from plunging into fiscal collapse, we need to do something. While I applaud President-elect Trump for selecting Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to head DOGE, I do warn them that tackling Crazy Town alone will not be sufficient; they will require allies.
Also set to head up the Senate DOGE Caucus is Republican Joni Ernst of Iowa.
“The tables are finally turning, the knives are out, and waste is on the chopping block,” Ernst stated in November.
The Post reports that DOGE plans to almost treble its current workforce of around 50 individuals working out of SpaceX’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. by the time President-elect Trump takes the oath of office on January 20.
When asked for comment, a Ramaswamy spokesman told AWN Digital no.
Other state-level efforts that are comparable to DOGE seem to have been inspired by it. As an example, New Hampshire’s Republican governor, Kelly Ayotte, introduced the Commission on Government Efficiency (COGE) on Thursday.
Ayotte stated in her inaugural address that COGE will allow the state to be more intelligent than previously in terms of reducing spending and improving services to the people.
