Elon Musk has stated that he intends to develop a “TruthGPT” to counteract what he says is liberal bias displayed by a popular chatbot.
According to Fox News, the billionaire Twitter, Tesla, and SpaceX founder’s alternative to OpenAI’s ChatGPT would be a “maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe.”
Musk also accused OpenAI, a company in which he was an early investor, of teaching its chatbot to be “politically correct.”
His pledge to construct a similar service comes less than a month after he urged for a halt in the development of sophisticated AI systems, citing “significant risks to society.”
ChatGPT is a big language model that has been trained on massive amounts of data to comprehend text and respond to prompts in a human-like manner.
GPT-4, a recent improvement to the technology powering it, vastly increased the chatbot’s ability to learn and accomplish tasks.
customers have shown it by creating poetry, resolving computer bugs, and passing tests, while firms such as Microsoft and Expedia have incorporated the technology into their own products to assist customers with everything from online browsing to vacation planning.
However, there are worries regarding the authenticity of the information supplied by models such as ChatGPT and Google’s competing service Bard, both of which have been demonstrated to occasionally spit outright lies with complete conviction.
Musk supports AI regulation.
As the development of AI accelerates, so do calls for regulation.
Musk stated that he was a “big fan” of governments taking action, claiming that the technology was “more dangerous” than the rockets and automobiles for which his firms are known.
Tesla’s self-driving cars, on the other hand, have come under increased scrutiny, with more than 360,000 of the vehicles recalled earlier this year due to concerns that its software may cause a crash.
The Chinese government published draught rules last week indicating how generative AI services would likely be subject to the same stringent limitations as the rest of China’s internet.
Italy became the first country to outright prohibit ChatGPT in March, as the country’s data protection authorities probed its acquisition of user information.
Europol, the EU law enforcement agency, has cautioned that ChatGPT might be used by criminals and to spread misinformation.
In addition, the White House is seeking public input on how AI should be regulated in the United States, after releasing its “blueprint for an AI bill of rights” late last year to protect jobs and privacy.
When can we expect to see ‘TruthGPT’?
According to reports, Musk is still assembling a team for his AI start-up.
According to a Nevada business file, he has already formed a new company called X.AI Corp.
It was founded on March 9th, with Musk serving as its director and his adviser, Jared Birchall, serving as secretary.
It comes after it was revealed that Musk has combined Twitter into a company called X Corp.
