Former Obama advisor Van Jones delivered a stark rebuke to Democratic leadership Monday, specifically calling out Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for what he characterized as misleading statements about President Biden’s capabilities.
“Obviously, Biden was in bad shape,” Jones stated bluntly during a CNN panel discussion, directly contradicting previous Democratic messaging. Jones suggested that Biden’s inner circle had deliberately withheld information about the President’s condition, noting that “a lot was known and wasn’t said.”
The criticism came after Schumer’s appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where he struggled to defend his previous statements about Biden’s mental acuity. Last February, Schumer had dismissed concerns about Biden’s fitness as “right-wing propaganda,” claiming the President’s mental sharpness was “as good as it’s been over the years.”
Political analysts across the spectrum are now questioning the Democratic establishment’s credibility. Conservative commentator Scott Jennings didn’t mince words, suggesting this could be “one of the biggest cover-ups in modern American political history.”
“Democrat politicians lied. Democrat pundits lied,” Jennings stated, adding that many White House correspondents either “looked the other way or believed absolute crap they were being fed by the White House press secretary.”
Even liberal commentator S.E. Cupp called the Democratic defense of Biden “delusional,” noting how party leaders had insisted “with a straight face that he was super strong, just the same as when he got in.”
When pressed about whether Biden could have served another term, Schumer notably avoided giving a direct answer, instead pivoting to talk about Biden’s legislative achievements. This evasion, according to CNN host Abby Phillip, was “incredibly telling.”
Perhaps most revealing was the admission from Ashley Allison, a former Biden-Harris campaign worker, who acknowledged that the President’s June debate performance raised significant concerns, suggesting Biden experiences varying levels of cognitive function on different days.
The growing acknowledgment of Biden’s struggles, even from within Democratic circles, raises serious questions about the party’s transparency with the American public regarding the President’s fitness for office.
