GOP Endorsement Surge: Trump Racks Up Support Post New Hampshire Win

Trump, the former president, is quickly amassing a number of prominent endorsements following his victory in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.

Following up on his success in Iowa, Trump cruised to victory in the early voting state, winning 54.6% of the vote compared to 43.2% for former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. This solidifies his hold on the Republican Party’s presidential candidature.

More Republicans are starting to band together in support of the ex-president to assist him secure a second term, despite Haley’s insistence that she is not yet withdrawing her support.

Ronna McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee, said Fox News on Tuesday, “I’m looking at the map and the path going forward and I don’t see it for Nikki Haley.” “We must come together in support of Donald Trump, our eventual nominee.”

Prior to the 2024 presidential primary, McDaniel stated that the GOP would maintain its “neutral” stance. According to what she told The Associated Press two years ago, the Republican National Committee was almost entirely focused on Trump’s reelection in 2020, but in 2024, the national party would not back him over other candidates because of party regulations.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) stated on X after New Hampshire that “it’s clear that President Trump is Republican voters’ choice” and that the party needs to come together under a single umbrella.

In addition to the domestic problems, such as inflation and the southern border crisis, Cornyn criticised the Biden administration’s foreign strategy, saying it had “emboldened our adversaries and made the world a more dangerous place, must be stopped.”

While criticising President Joe Biden’s domestic policies on X, Republican Senator Deb Fischer of Nebraska also endorsed Trump on Tuesday night. During an appearance with radio presenter Hugh Hewitt on Wednesday morning, she voiced her belief that the party needed to unite behind him in order to defeat Joe Biden.

As with Cornyn and McDaniel, RNC delegates and Georgia GOP Chair Josh McKoon backed Trump for the same reasons.

In a statement, they said that Republican voters had made their intentions known: they wanted the GOP to rally behind President Donald Trump, the party’s choice. “How Ambassador Haley can get the nomination is a mystery.”

“We can start to focus our efforts on BEATING Joe Biden, rather than in-party fighting,” said Michigan Republican Party Chair Pete Hoekstra, who also praised the former president.
