Box CEO Aaron Levie endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in last week’s presidential election. But, with former President Donald Trump returning to the White House, Levie says he supports Trump’s deregulation plan.
Is there a substantial cause for that support? His Silicon Valley counterpart, Elon Musk.
“I don’t think there’s a better person for this particular task, let’s say, than Elon, because the government is normally resistant to this type of change,” Levie said on today’s POLITICO Tech podcast.
According to Levie, Musk has a track record of solving complicated problems, whether it’s launching commercial rockets at SpaceX or producing electric automobiles at Tesla. Musk, who is now co-leader of Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency, has promised to eliminate federal programs and regulations quickly and deeply.
Levie believes that Democrats should give Musk an opportunity to achieve it. And, as the party focuses on its election defeat, Levie believes Democrats should congratulate Musk and other tech executives whose commercial success aligns with the party’s beliefs.
