Harris's Poll Numbers Are Drowning: Michigan Rep. Drops Bombshell

The odds of Kamala Harris in the state’s presidential election worried a Democratic candidate in a pivotal Senate race in Michigan, who was speaking to her supporters.

Elissa Slotkin expressed her current feelings about Kamala Harris’s performance in a state like Michigan during a fundraiser earlier this month, as reported by Axios. “Our polling has her underwater.”

Axios stated that Slotkin did not provide any information regarding the details of the material she was mentioning. It is hard to judge the reliability of the poll without viewing it in its original form. In order to inspire their followers and warn them against complacency, candidates may occasionally conduct internal surveys.

On Thursday, ballots for Michigan voters who prefer to mail them in began to arrive.

On Friday, Donald Trump visited Michigan for a town hall meeting and address. Saturday’s football game between the University of Minnesota and the University of Michigan was attended by Harris’s running mate Tim Walz as well.

On Wednesday, in what will be the sole vice-presidential debate, Walz and Trump’s running mate JD Vance will face off, marking yet another watershed moment in the campaign.

Harris has a razor-thin lead in Michigan, according to the FiveThirtyEight average of polls. One of the most important things for Harris’s presidential campaign would be to win Michigan, a state that Joe Biden took in 2020 before he took over for Trump in 2016.

If Harris wants to prevent Trump from becoming president for a second term, she needs to win over voters in the Rust Belt states of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. She would have a more difficult time winning the electoral college if she lost even one of them.

Additionally, Slotkin’s margin over her opponent, former representative Mike Rogers, is greater according to the polls. If Democrats want to maintain their majority in the US Senate, retaining the seat is essential. The Democratic senatorial seat being vacated by Debbie Stabenow is considered a close call by the Cook Political Report.

As the presidential campaign nears its last weeks, Slotkin makes his remarks at a time when polls reveal a razor-thin margin of victory in critical battleground states.

According to 538’s average of the polls, Harris is up in both Michigan and Wisconsin by 1.9 points. On average, 538 Pennsylvania surveys have her ahead by one point.

Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona are also showing very close races according to the polls.
