On Monday, Iran attacked the American airbase in Qatar, Al-Udeid, in retaliation for what President Trump called a “very weak response.”
As anticipated, Iran’s public reaction to our bombing of their nuclear facilities was rather feeble, and they have responded admirably. According to Trump’s statement on Truth Social, out of fourteen missiles launched, thirteen were successfully intercepted, and one was “set free” as it was traveling in a harmless direction.
While no deaths were reported, a U.S. defense official informed AWN Digital that Iran had attacked Al-Udeid base with short-range and medium-range ballistic missiles.
After Iran “got it all out of their’system,'” U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his gratitude for Iran’s “early warning” of the strike, saying it would help limit lives and that there would hopefully be no additional HATE.

I will wholeheartedly urge Israel to follow Iran’s lead and work toward regional peace and harmony. I appreciate your careful consideration of this issue.
Despite describing the strike as “brazen aggression,” Qatar’s foreign ministry claimed credit for successfully intercepting Iranian missiles.
Doha, Qatar denounces the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ attack on Al-Udeid Air Base. Official Majed Al Ansari stated on X that Qatar views this as an egregious infringement on its sovereignty.
“We reassure that Qatar’s air defenses successfully thwarted the attack and intercepted the Iranian missiles.”
U.S. embassies in Kuwait and Bahrain both took precautions after the strike, with the former issuing a security warning that restricted base access to only critical staff and the latter allowing some of its workers to work remotely.
Iranian President Mahmoud Pezeshkian had issued a warning prior to the incident, pledging that his country would not let the attacks on its nuclear facilities on Saturday to go “unanswered.”
“The attack on #GreaterIran will not go unanswered. We did not seek or start the war, but we will not let it go either. A response to any harm inflicted on Iran must be met with faith, prudence, and resolve; we must stand steadfastly on the side of our dear nation’s security, he said on X.
Officials in the United States and Qatar were allegedly alerted in advance of the assaults by Iran. It would be a tactic reminiscent to Iran’s symbolic reaction to the execution of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, which aimed to avoid inflaming the situation more than it could manage.
According to an Iranian military spokesman, the strike was carried out by the Revolutionary Guard Corps. “We warn our enemies that the era of hit and run is over.”
In response to the incident, the airspaces of four countries—Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, and the UAE—were blocked.
The largest U.S. military post in the Middle East, the base is home to 10,000 American personnel. It is a logistics center for the United States’ effort to combat ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and it is situated southwest of Doha. Additionally, it serves as the regional headquarters for special operations and air forces under Central Command (CENTCOM). The British airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq have also utilized it as their headquarters.
A $1 billion military sales agreement was concluded between Doha and President Trump during his May 15 visit to Al Udeid.
Through its attempts to expand the base, Qatar has maintained cordial ties with the United States, while simultaneously maintaining a delicate balance with Iran. As a precaution against the assault, Qatar has already grounded all aircraft and pledged to “take all necessary preventive measures.”
Based on satellite imagery, it appears that the United States evacuated the majority of its unhungered aircraft from Al Udeid last week, therefore the strike came as no surprise.
After three Iranian nuclear installations were hit by fourteen bunker buster bombs delivered by American B-2 bombers, Iran threatened to respond by retaliating against the US.
Abdolrahim Mousavi, the new chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, issued a statement warning the US that its actions, including the punishment of its aggressive and illegitimate progeny, would not be tolerated. He added that Islam’s fighters within the armed forces would not hesitate to take action against US interests and military.
Nevertheless, following Saturday’s attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Trump issued a warning: “Any retaliation by Iran against the United States of America will be met with force far greater than what was witnessed tonight.”
The 379th Air Expeditionary Wing’s airlift, aerial refueling, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities are housed at the air base, along with a variety of military assets such as C-17 Globemaster transports, RC-135 Rivet Joint reconnaissance aircraft, and B-52 strategic bombers.
