A growing number of Republicans are identifying as MAGA supporters, according to a new national survey that President Trump has lately touted.
The president praised the “tremendous support” for MAGA, an abbreviation for Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement, in a social media post.
“I am not, at all, surprised!!!” Trump wrote only days before the 100-day mark.
From 55% in November to 71% currently, that’s a significant increase among Republicans, according to the survey.
The NBC News study adds to the mounting evidence of Trump’s stranglehold on the Republican Party and his efforts to mold it into his own vision, a process that began with his 20216 presidential triumph.
Though he has hinted at a possible re-election bid in 2028 on many occasions, the president cannot legally serve more than two terms in office due to the 22nd Amendment.
After Trump leaves the White House, what will become of the MAGA movement and America First agenda?
Nothing will ever restore the Republican Party to its former glory. Former longtime Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell’s party, controlled by Washington elites, “died forever in 2024,” according to Alex Castellanos, a Republican strategist. This was reported by AWN Digital.
According to Castellanos, who has been involved in many Republican presidential campaigns, “the Republican Party of Donald Trump is alive and growing out in America.”
He also said that “what happened in 2024 is that what was a man became a movement.”
Consistent with this view was David Kochul, another veteran Republican strategist who has extensive expertise working on presidential campaigns. That much is certain. Our focus is shifting to something fresh and innovative.
On this, even a prominent Republican who has been critical of Trump has come around.
According to Asa Hutchinson, a former congressman and two-term governor of Arkansas, “those who want the GOP to go a different direction from the MAGA leadership of President Trump are now fighting an uphill battle.” Hutchinson launched an unsuccessful 2024 Republican presidential nomination effort.
“Trump has found his stride with his anti-immigrant message and it is overshadowing the chaos from his super-charged tariff war and its impact on the economy,” AWN Digital said.
Whether it’s Vice President-elect JD Vance or someone else, whoever takes over as GOP standardbearer after Trump, it won’t be Trump.
Trump is an outstanding performer and personality. Kochul emphasised that others can’t make him like him. I don’t think anybody can succeed Donald Trump. We can’t do that. He is unique.
His campaign, though, will last for a while.
Dave Carney, a senior Republican strategist and campaign trail member, told AWN that Trump’s impact and rhetoric will endure beyond his last day in office, similar to the Reagan Revolution.
Carney, however, stated that Trump’s presidency may “wane over years unless the next Republican president continues it.”
“Without his character, will it be as intense as it is now?” Carney inquired.
“No,” he replied to his own inquiry. Someone must convey that topic for you.
It was pointed out by Castellanos, nevertheless, that Trump has “spawned a new younger generation of MAGA leaders who will carry on the MAGA movement long after Trump.”
Castellanos referred to Vance and others as “a fresh generation of MAGA.”
“The players on the MAGA farm team are now playing major league ball,” according to him.
By looking ahead to the GOP’s future, Kochul expressed his belief that “it will be more populist, whomever emerges.”
Furthermore, he hinted to the presence of future leaders by saying, “we’ve got a lot of great leadership and a great bench.”
Speaking on the trajectory of Trump’s MAGA movement, Hutchinson shared his thoughts as a former Reagan era U.S. attorney and high-ranking Bush administration official.
“Whether Trump’s dominance continues beyond the next few years depends upon the tolerance level of the GOP base on Trump’s view that ‘he is the law’ rather than respecting the separation of powers that have served our country well,” said Hutchinson.
