Jeffries Accused of ‘Clear Corruption’ in Attack on Trump’s Lawyer Alina Habba

Following his call on federal district judges to remove U.S. Attorney Alina Habba from her post, Republican legal activists have requested the Ethics Committee to investigate House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) was charged with impeding Homeland Security authorities following an encounter at an immigration facility in Newark on May 9, which is where Jeffries’ accusations against Habba originated.

Not guilty is McIver’s plea. Her trial is scheduled on November 10th.

“Congresswoman LaMonica McIver was indicted for doing her job by the so-called U.S. Attorney in NJ,” Jeffreys stated in an X post. Everyone should fire Habba because he is an uneducated political hack.

“She must be rejected by the Federal District Court Judges who are considering whether to retain her.”

According to a letter sent by the Article III Project to the House Ethics Committee, Jeffries “improperly insert[ed] himself into a criminal proceeding.”

“This is clear corruption by House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries.”

Former Trump campaign legal advisor and White House counselor Habba was nominated to the job in March on an interim basis by Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The Senate has delayed Habba’s confirmation. But she might remain in her role throughout Trump’s administration if Monday’s decision by the majority of New Jersey’s US district court judges to keep her on the bench is approved.

Democratic presidents nominated fifteen of New Jersey’s seventeen incumbent district court justices.

“A House member – particularly the House Democratic leader – who disagrees with the merits of a pending criminal case abuses his official position when he attempts to strong-arm federal judges to corruptly prejudice the ongoing criminal proceeding by firing the U.S. attorney for the purely political reason of protecting a partisan House colleague,” the complaint stated, requesting that the House Ethics Committee ensure Jeffries is “accountable.”

Federal agents and McIver and two other lawmakers got into an altercation because their congressional oversight visit happened at the same time as an immigration rally.

A news release from the Department of Justice states that federal officers informed Newark Mayor Ras Baraka to leave the protected section of the Delaney Hall immigration facility, but Baraka remained there.

During the attempted arrest of Baraka, McIver reportedly obstructed the cops, encircled the mayor with her arms, and “slammed her forearm” into one officer while simultaneously grasping another, causing the second officer to be violently struck with both forearms.

The maximum prison term for the first two offenses is eight years. There is a one-year duration for the third.

A liberal watchdog group called the Campaign for Accountability has taken issue with Habba’s decision to press charges against McIver and Baraka. The group claims that Habba was motivated by political animosity towards the two individuals, who opposed President Trump’s policies and participated in the protest and oversight visit.
