Karine Jean-Pierre, who served as President Joe Biden’s principal spokesman and defender for almost two years, said in June that she had become an Independent, unexpectedly resigning from her position in the Democratic Party.
“Unwavering allegiance to a two-party democratic system has become an obsession in our nation. A press release announcing Karine Jean-Pierre’s upcoming book, “Independent,” revealed that the former spox had left the Democratic Party. The release promised that the book would be published just one year after the 2024 election and would explain why Americans should start looking beyond party lines.
Jean-Pierre has served two American presidents—Obama and Biden—so she didn’t make her decision to be an Independent lightly. In the following three weeks, she tells us about the betrayal by the Democratic Party and how it prompted Biden to withdraw his candidacy for reelection, the press release went on to say.
Jean-Pierre served as press secretary from May 13, 2022, to January 20, 2025. During this time, the administration faced a number of challenges, including a worsening immigration crisis, the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court, the administration’s embrace of transgender issues, and the heated rhetoric directed at President Trump in the lead-up to the 2024 election. AWN Digital analyzed Jean-Pierre’s partisan stances and statements during this time.
This is not the completion of a wall. We are restoring order after the previous government left a shambles in its wake. Lives are being saved by our efforts. From the platform of the White House briefing room, Jean-Pierre made the following declaration in July 2022: “This is what the prior administration left behind that we are now cleaning up.” At the time, the Biden administration had announced that construction of the Trump government’s border wall would not be continued.
“A border wall is an ineffective use of taxpayer dollars, so it’s ineffective,” according to her.
A few months down the road, when the Trump administration’s policy known as Title 42 was about to expire—a regulation that permitted U.S. authorities to reject migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border citing health concerns—Jean-Pierre stated, “It would be incorrect to assume that the border is open. It isn’t accessible.
The press secretary was heavily criticized for the statement at the time; critics referred to it as a “bold-faced lie” as the border crossings were shown to have minimal impact.
The Supreme Court’s historic decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, which virtually ended the status of abortion as a constitutional right, was announced in June of 2022 when the Biden administration was in power. Jean-Pierre referred to the result as “extreme.”
According to her, “when the Supreme Court made that extreme decision on Dobbs, it really put a lot of families and women’s lives at risk” (July 20, 2022).
During its four years in office, the Biden administration often observed LGBTQ holidays and vehemently supported transgender issues and laws, both of which have now been repealed by Trump.
“Tomorrow is Trans Visibility Day,” Jean-Pierre said at a news conference in March 2023, criticizing Republicans who had proposed legislation to prohibit adolescents from undergoing transgender surgery and to prohibit biological boys from participating in girls’ sports. “On a day that we should be lifting up our trans kids and our trans youth and making sure that they feel seen, we’re seen more and more of these hateful, hateful bills.”
We have been quite vocal against the anti-LGBTQ legislation that is making its way through state legislatures nationwide, especially the anti-trans legislation that targets transgender children and their parents. Furthermore, she emphasized that it is both undesirable and humiliating.
Two assassination attempts occurred in the months preceding Election Day. The first occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania, during a campaign rally in July, when a bullet whizzed towards Trump and injured his side of the head. The second incident occurred in September, while Trump was playing golf in Florida, and involved a man who attempted to kill him.
“At this news conference in September of 2024, you’re standing at the podium in the White House briefing room calling Donald Trump a threat? It’s only been two days since someone allegedly tried to kill him again,” AWN’s Peter Doocy questioned. “How many more assassination attempts on Donald Trump until the president and the vice president and you pick a different word to describe Trump other than ‘threat’?”
During Trump’s re-election campaign last year, Biden and then-Vice President Kamala Harris both asserted that “Democracy is on the ballot” many times. Even though Trump has been called a “threat” to democracy by the White House, Biden, and Harris, Fox Digital has covered this topic extensively in the past.
“Peter, if anything, I actually completely disagree with the premise of your question, the question that you’re asking,” Jean-Pierre said after letting out a disapproving breath. Additionally, the manner you are posing the question is quite risky, since the American people are closely observing. That being said, it is unacceptable to introduce political rhetoric.
If you suggest, “Let’s lower the temperature,” some viewers at home might not notice. Additionally, there are those with mental illness who are trying to assassinate political politicians, including Donald Trump. The White House continues to paint him as a danger, and they keep hearing that. Would you not be worried?” During the press conference, Doocy went on.
