Soros Under Investigation? FCC’s Secret Briefing Raises Eyebrows

The Trump administration is reportedly updating House Republicans on their investigation into the impact of billionaire George Soros on local radio, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to AWN Digital.

At Wednesday’s annual closed-door lunch, the 175-strong Republican Study Committee (RSC), headed by Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, will welcome Brendan Carr, the current chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

An individual knowledgeable with the matter stated that Carr is anticipated to apprise Republican legislators about the FCC’s probe into Soros, which encompasses an investment entity associated with him buying more than 200 Audacy radio stations around the country.

There will likely be more open communication between Carr and Republicans over tactics to counteract media prejudice.

The Republican Study Committee (RSC) is the biggest organization of House Republicans and has long served as the party’s informal think tank.

A number of high-ranking Trump administration officials have used it to reach Capitol Hill this year.

Last month, Stephen Miller, the Deputy Chief of Staff, spoke to the RSC about immigration and the executive action plan of President Donald Trump. Chris Wright, the secretary of energy, spoke with the group earlier in February.

Around the end of last year, at the tail end of the Biden administration, an investment group associated with Soros—a billionaire left-wing activist—became the biggest shareholder in radio conglomerate Audacy.

Following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Audacy had around 40% of its debts bought by the Soros Investment Fund.

Several Republican senators and representatives have voiced their disapproval of the arrangement, including Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana and Rep. Chip Roy of Texas.

During an appearance with “Mornings with Maria” towards the end of last year, Carr hinted that he intended to target Soros.

The Federal Communications Commission is now considering a petition for reconsideration. “And I want to examine that very closely,” he stated at the end of November.
