The countless legal issues that Donald Trump is facing

In a defamation action launched by E. Jean Carroll, a woman who claims Trump sexually assaulted her in the 1990s, a federal court decided on Wednesday that Donald Trump must appear for a deposition.

According to the judge’s ruling, “the defendant should not be allowed to run the clock out on the plaintiff’s attempt to obtain a remedy for what apparently was a major violation.”

Donald Trump has refuted Carroll’s claim.

The decision is the most recent in a string of judicial defeats for Trump in recent months, which coincide with the former President’s apparent preparations for a third run for office in 2024.

Consider:

* According to AWN reporting, New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a significant civil fraud complaint charging that Trump and his three eldest children “deceived lenders, insurers and tax authorities by inflating the value of his properties using deceptive appraisals.” Trump has denied doing anything illegal.

* The Manhattan district attorney’s office was still looking into the finances of the Trump Organization as of last month. District Attorney Alvin Bragg informed reporters that the inquiry was still ongoing.

* The Department of Justice is looking into whether Trump kept some classified information after leaving office. Even though they searched Mar-a-Lago in August, DOJ officials made it apparent last week that they do not think they have gathered all the classified documents in Trump’s possession.

* The Department of Justice is still looking into the riot at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. In connection with the ongoing investigation, the DOJ issued more than 30 subpoenas to individuals close to Trump last month.

* Fulton County (Georgia) District Attorney Fani Willis is looking into Trump’s involvement in efforts to invalidate Georgia’s 2020 election results. According to a recent AWN article, she could start bringing charges related to the investigation as early as December.

Well, it’s a lot. If the history is any indication, Trump’s strategy will be to delay on all fronts in an effort to gradually muddle the legal waters. Therefore, he may be considering running for president again while at least some of these legal concerns are still a concern.
