The GOP is pushing Democrats to denounce the assaults as domestic terrorism in the midst of a continuing series of violent attacks, threats and damage against Tesla owners and dealerships and nationwide “Tesla Takedown” demonstrations.
On Tuesday, Republican firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., will propose a resolution in the House of Representatives.
The bill criticizes unnamed Democratic Party members whom it claims “have called for their supporters to incite and engage in domestic terrorism by attacking Tesla vehicles and facilities to protest Elon Musk” and denounces the spate of “domestic terrorism attacks” aimed at Tesla cars and dealerships.
Terrorism is the illegal use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political goals. That is precisely what has been happening nationwide at Tesla dealerships and what innocent Americans who selected Tesla as their preferred car are experiencing in the aftermath of violence from Radical Left-Wing domestic terrorists who despise President Donald Trump and Elon Musk,” Boebert told AWN Digital.
Citing “at least” 80 cases of arson or vandalism against Tesla cars and 10 cases of vandalism against Tesla shops, charging stations and infrastructure all throughout the United States and Canada, the resolution claims
Incidents include people tagging private property with phrases like “Nazi” and “Long Live Ukraine,” shooting up buildings and automobiles, and tossing Molotov cocktails setting fire to cars and equipment.
Among the events mentioned in the resolution is the March 18 attack in Las Vegas, when a person dressed in black fired at Tesla cars at a Tesla collision center, set many of them on fire with Molotov cocktails, and spray-painted the word “Resist” on the front doors of the store.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has detained 36-year-old Paul Hyon Kim in connection with the event. Jail records show Kim has been charged with many offences including fire device possession, arson, and property destruction.
The resolution also refers to the Mach 6 assault close to Portland, Oregon, when at least seven bullets were fired into a Tesla dealership in the middle of the night, smashing glass, harming three automobiles and wrecking equipment.
Though the FBI has formed a task force to combat Tesla crime, the Justice Department has filed charges against arson suspects and Attorney General Pam Bondi called the attacks “domestic terrorism”—a concern Democrats have fought against for years. Few Democrats have categorically condemned the violence in light of these events.
Many Democrats have really doubled down on their provocative language against DOGE-chief Musk, calling him a “Nazi” and a “danger to democracy.”
Currently, eight fiercely conservative co-sponsors—Reps. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., Byron Donalds, R-Fla., Brandon Gill, R-Texas, Nancy Mace, R-S.C., Barry Moore, R-Ala., Troy Nehls, R-Texas, Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., and Greg Steube, R-Fla. support the legislation denouncing the outbreak of domestic terrorism targeting Tesla owners and dealers. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz.; Byron Donalds, R-Fla.; Brandon Gill, R-Texas; Nancy Mace, R-S.C.; Barry Moore, R-Ala.; Troy Nehls, R-Texas; Andy Ogles, R-Tenn.; and Greg Steube, R-Fla.
The American people have a right to know where their legislators stand on denouncing domestic terrorism. My House resolution will clarify where all congressional members stand: Do they support domestic terrorism against Tesla or do they denounce it totally?
