Trump Allies Accuse Biden of Lying About Cease-Fire Credit

An official from the Trump transition team spoke about President Biden’s “lying to the nation” and taking credit for a cease-fire arrangement between Israel and Hamas during his farewell address on Wednesday evening, describing it as a “sad” way to finish his stint in the White House.

“Joe Biden is leaving on a low note. Pretending to be the hero of a deal that everyone agrees was facilitated by President Trump while deceiving the country. Biden has had more than a year to negotiate a ceasefire and the release of the prisoners. That was his downfall. According to a Trump transition official who spoke with AWN Digital on Wednesday evening, Trump emerged victorious.

Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire deal on Wednesday, guaranteeing the release of captives, ending the raging war in the Middle East that began in October 2023.

On Wednesday night, Biden gave his farewell speech to the country, and in his opening words, he celebrated the end of hostilities.

“To my fellow countrymen, Tonight, I am communicating with you from the Oval Office. First, I’d want to address some crucial news that came out earlier today. The Israeli government and Hamas have finally achieved an agreement on a hostage arrangement and a ceasefire after eight months of constant negotiations. Which, as Biden pointed out, I detailed in considerable length in May of this year.

My team drafted and negotiated this strategy, and the next administration will put it into action to a considerable extent. It is the right thing to do, as Americans, and that is why I instructed my staff to keep the new government apprised of all developments, he said.

Nevertheless, sources informed Fox Digital that the agreement was allegedly facilitated by a recent meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump’s incoming Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, lending credence to the idea that the incoming Trump administration was instrumental in achieving the deal.

During his Wednesday remarks, Netanyahu commended Trump for “his assistance in advancing the release of the hostages.”

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke this evening with US President-elect Donald Trump and thanked him for his assistance in advancing the release of the hostages and for helping Israel bring an end to the suffering of dozens of hostages and their families,” the official account of Israel’s Prime Minister X said.

“The Prime Minister made it clear that he is committed to returning all of the hostages however he can, and commended the US President-elect for his remarks that the US would work with Israel to ensure that Gaza will never be a haven for terrorism.”

Later, the X report stated: “Prime Minister Netanyahu then spoke with US President Joe Biden and thanked him as well for his assistance in advancing the hostages deal.”

After being asked earlier Wednesday who will be remembered for advocating the cease-fire accord in history, Biden rejected the idea that Trump and his administration were the ones to take the lead.

“Who in the history books gets credit for this, Mr. President, you or Trump?” During Wednesday afternoon’s White House press conference, AWN’s Jacqui Heinrich asked Biden.

The president said, “Is that a joke?” in rejoinder.

“Oh no. Heinrich clarified that it was not a joke, to which Biden replied, “Thank you,” before he departed.
