After Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz declared that Republicans were “stuck with Donald Trump” on Fox News, President Trump blasted the network for bringing Walz onto their show on Tuesday.
Why was Minnesota Governor Tim Walz featured on Fox News while I am the host? “They make me fight battles that I shouldn’t have to fight!” the former president remarked in a post on Truth Social.
Trump “knows nothing about rural America,” according to Walz, who retorted on X, adding “Minnesota. And Wisconsin. And Michigan. And Pennsylvania” will be lost to Trump.
Upon AWN’s request for comment, a representative from Fox News did not immediately react.
The last Republican to win the presidency from Minnesota was Richard Nixon in 1972, but Trump is hell-bent on using the state to further his agenda. In 2016, he narrowly lost Minnesota to Hillary Clinton by two points; in 2020, President Joe Biden further increased that margin.
According to AWN, senior Trump aides have told funders that the former president may win Minnesota in November, even though polls have consistently shown Biden ahead of Trump in the state. Ohio Senator JD Vance, who is being considered by Trump for the vice presidency, will be attending a campaign fundraiser in Minneapolis this coming weekend.
Walz defended the procedure Democrats would use to choose a new nominee at next month’s Democratic National Convention on Fox News. Vice President Kamala Harris is running for the nomination after Joe Biden dropped out. The governor added that Republicans have had to support Trump despite his criminal records and “failed policies,” in contrast to the Democratic Party, which he characterized as “ready to move when the situation warrants it.”
Telling Fox News’ Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino, “He’s yours, you’ve got him, welcome to it,” Walz made his confession. He continued by saying, “JD Vance, mind your own business,” in reference to Vance’s complaints of the Democrats’ abrupt change in presidential candidates. She’ll handle it.
Walz, who was a surrogate for Biden’s campaign, did not say whether Harris was considering him for vice president, but he did say that the two have spoken and “have the same values.”
