A television journalist was killed while reporting from the scene of a murder in Florida.
At the time of the attack, they were covering the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old woman in Pine Hills.
Another Spectrum News 13 employee was hurt while covering the incident west of Orlando.
Investigators were then called to a neighbouring property where a girl and her mother were discovered with gunshot wounds – the nine-year-old died later.
A 19-year-old guy was caught at the scene of the most recent gunshot, and authorities believe the three incidents are linked.
Keith Melvin Moses has been identified as the suspect, and he has been legally charged with the first victim’s murder. Further charges against the remaining four victims are expected to be filed.
According to authorities, the adolescent has an extensive criminal past that includes accusations involving firearms, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and theft.
Moses appeared to be smirking in a photo issued by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office as he was being arrested.
Sheriff John Mina described the day as “terrible” during a press conference.
“No one in our town – not a mother, not a nine-year-old, and certainly not a news professional – should become a victim of gun violence in our neighbourhood,” he added.
Mr Mina stated that the motive for the shootings is currently unknown.
