Unthinkable Negligence: Superintendent Steps Down in Wake of Child Finding Unattended Gun in School Bathroom

After an eight-year-old discovered his rifle left in a bathroom, a school administrator resigned.

The handgun was discovered at Texas’ Rising Star Elementary School, and many parents were outraged since they were not informed of the incident when it occurred.

The child notified his instructor about the gun, prompting the teacher to order him and another student to “go and be sure that’s what he discovered”.

They went immediately to the superintendent’s office after confirming it was a firearm.

Robby Stuteville has already acknowledged his resignation, and the teacher has also been “spoken to” as a result of the event, according school officials.

Mr. Stuteville claimed that he had left his rifle in the stall while using the restroom for around 15 minutes.

Monty Jones, his replacement as superintendent, said, “He took a lot of pleasure in his job, and it was an accident that happened, and he felt tremendously horrible about it.”

Mr Jones claimed that he and Mr Stuteville carried weapons on campus as a result of recent school shootings in the United States.

He went on to say that both parents and staff were aware that they carried firearms, and that they had both had week-long training in how to handle a pistol and how to de-escalate a situation.
