What is known about Paul Pelosi's attack

As shock and horror over the alleged attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, continue to hang over Washington, the guy is anticipated to be charged with many felonies on Monday.

The 42-year-old David DePape could be charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary, and other offences in connection with the attack on the couple’s San Francisco home on Friday morning.

DePape’s suspected motivation is still unknown, but authorities believe he entered the house on purpose. According to AWN, DePape also posted memes and conspiracies on Facebook concerning Covid vaccinations, the 2020 election, and the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The attack has reignited conversations about abusive language directed at lawmakers, with Democrats urging Republicans to vehemently condemn such behaviour in their party. They have also raised worries about the safety of members.

We now know this information about the attack.

According to sources, DePape had zip ties and duct tape with him.

Two sources who have been briefed on the situation told AWN on Sunday that DePape was carrying a backpack that contained many zip ties in addition to other items.

According to a law enforcement source, the suspect allegedly had duct tape on him in addition to the zip ties. Police sources and a senior congressional official informed on the incident claim that DePape brought the hammer that was reportedly used to beat Pelosi.
Both sources were unaware of any more weapons discovered during DePape’s arrest. DePape allegedly attempted to tie up Pelosi, according to prior reports from AWN.
DePape allegedly entered the house through the rear entrance, though it is unclear if he managed to get past any security precautions, according to the police.

As originally reported by AWN, DePape faced Pelosi and yelled, “Where is Nancy?” as he demanded to know where his wife was. At the time of the incident, the speaker was not at home.
According to a law enforcement source and another source familiar with the situation, Paul Pelosi was able to dial 911 when the attack first started.

According to the police chief for San Francisco, when officers arrived at the residence at 2:27 a.m. local time (5:27 a.m. ET) on Friday, Pelosi and DePape were fighting over a hammer. Before being knocked to the ground and taken into custody, officers observed DePape “violently assault” Pelosi with a hammer.
