White Powder Sent to D.A. Investigating President Trump Causes Alarm

The incident comes amid days of rumours that Donald Trump may be charged by the Manhattan district attorney for allegedly making hush money to Stormy Daniels and another adult film star.

The FBI and the New York Police Department are looking into a murder threat and white powder mailed to Manhattan’s district attorney’s office, which is investigating former US President Donald Trump.

According to law enforcement officials, the letter addressed to Alvin Bragg stated, “ALVIN: I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!.”

A small bit of white powder was also included in the letter.

The letter was “quickly contained,” according to Mr. Bragg’s office, and “the NYPD Emergency Response Unit and the NYC Department of Environmental Protection confirmed there was no harmful chemical.”

According to the reports, the letter was mailed early this week from Orlando, Florida.

The incident comes after a week of anticipation that Mr Trump will be charged by the Manhattan district attorney for allegedly making hush payments to Stormy Daniels and another adult film star.

Mr Bragg is conducting the criminal investigation into whether Mr Trump paid Ms Daniels $130,000 to keep an alleged sexual liaison between them from being revealed to the press.

Last week, a grand jury called Mr Trump to testify in the investigation, which is generally a sign that an indictment is imminent.

Mr Trump warned of “death and destruction” if he is indicted in a post on Truth Social, the social media network he started, on Friday.

“What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who received more votes than any sitting President in history, and who is the leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is well known that NO Crime has been committed, and it is also well known that the potential death and destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country?” Mr. Trump penned a letter.

“Why and who would do anything like this? Only a depraved psychotic who truly [sic] despises the United States!”

Mr Trump’s rhetoric has been rising in recent days as he attempts to rally his supporters to publicly support him.

He announced over the weekend that he will be jailed on Tuesday and urged fans to “PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

After Republican supporters warned against violent protests, Mr Trump tweeted on Thursday, “OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED, WHILE THEY TELL US TO BE PEACEFUL!”

He also shared a link to an article that featured a composite image of himself with a baseball bat next to one of Mr Bragg.

The Stormy Daniels probe is just one of several criminal and civil inquiries that the former president is facing.

His Trump Organization is being investigated for fraud by New York Attorney General Letitia James, and the US Justice Department is looking into whether he removed confidential information from the White House.

He is also charged with attempting to affect the outcome of the Georgia election in 2020 and storming Congress on January 6.
