In his ongoing demand for answers from the Trump administration on a jumbo plane gift from Qatar’s royal family—which the Democrat is describing as a “grave national security threat”—Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declared on Tuesday a “hold on all DOJ political nominees.”
Even Putin would take notice of the crooked nature of the news that the Qatari government gifted President Trump a private plane worth $400 million to operate as Air Force One. “This is not just blatant corruption; it poses a serious threat to our national security,” Schumer stated while speaking on the Senate floor.
“So, in light of the deeply troubling news of a possible Qatari-funded Air Force One, and the reports that the Attorney General personally signed off on this clearly unethical deal, I am announcing a hold on all DOJ political nominees, until we get more answers,” said he.
A spokesperson for the White House informed AWN Digital that “Senator Schumer and his anti-law-and-order party are prioritizing politics over critical DOJ appointments, obstructing President Trump’s Make Safe Again agenda,” as well as “Cryin’ Chuck must end the antics, stop Senate stonewalling, and prioritize the safety and civil rights of Americans.”
The United States is getting ready to accept a jumbo plane as a gift from the royal family of Qatar to replace Air Force One, which Boeing has failed to deliver on schedule. Trump has justified this decision.
On Monday morning, Trump expressed his disappointment with Boeing’s delayed production of a new Air Force One. Our Air Force One is forty years old, you know. Look at it in comparison to the modern plane of the same, you know, size back then; it’s a whole different ballgame.
On Sunday morning, rumors began circulating that the royal family of Qatar was planning to present the Trump administration with a $400 million Boeing 747-8 jumbo airplane. The president will reportedly utilize the plane until the conclusion of his presidency, after which he would donate it to his presidential archive, according to ABC News.
It was in Schumer’s Tuesday address that he made the request to the Justice Department’s Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) Unit to reveal any and all activities of Qatari nationals employed as American agents “that could benefit President Trump or the Trump Organization.”
The DOJ has failed to carry out its duties in relation to FARA ever since Attorney General Bondi assumed leadership. “The FARA Unit needs to enforce the law and inform the public about all activities involving foreign countries in the Middle East and President Trump, his family, and the Trump organization,” he added, referring to the luxury jet purchase in particular.
Second, the American people have a right to know what’s going on with this private jet transaction for half a billion dollars. The American people have been informed by President Trump that this is a “free jet.” Are the Qataris essentially sending an aircraft with all the necessary security features preinstalled on the first day? Schumer proceeded.
If that’s the case, who put those safety features in place, and how can we tell they were done right? Why would we entrust this delicate task to just any foreign nation? If not, what safety measures would have to be put in place to make sure an Air Force One that was purchased overseas is safe to fly? Will the Americans foot the bill for such critical installations or will the Qataris foot the bill if this is indeed a “free jet” as Trump claimed? While on the Senate floor, Schumer voiced his curiosity.
“The Attorney General must testify before both the House and Senate to explain why gifting Donald Trump a private jet does not violate the emoluments clause – which requires congressional approval – or any other ethics laws,” said Schumer. “Until the Attorney General explains her blatantly inept decision and we get complete and comprehensive answers to these and other questions, I will place a hold on all political nominees to the Department Of Justice.”
